Health Behavior and Education Department (HBED)
Welcome to the Department of Health Behavior and Education. The mission of the department is to develop a better understanding of both the effects of individual and social factors on health, with the intention of facilitating change of behavior, and of the wider social conditions that have adverse health effects.

Our multidisciplinary faculty achieves this by conducting research that responds to the health needs of the area, informing national policy, contributing to related issues, and by providing local and regional services. These activities inform educational programs that are geared toward preparing practitioners to identify and analyze major health determinants as well as to design, implement and evaluate interventions and policies aimed at improving health. The Department faculty place strong emphasis on involving students in real life experiences throughout their studies.
