Course Overview
Description
Operations research (OR) in reproductive health (RH) is essential in order to strengthen the quality of implementation of population and reproductive health programs. In collaboration with the Department of Reproductive Health and Research at WHO headquarters in Geneva and the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean in Cairo, the Center for Research on Population and Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences, the American University of Beirut is organizing a three-week course on Operations Research in Reproductive Health. The course is designed to build the capacity of decision makers, program managers and researchers working in ministries, universities, social centers, NGOs and community based organizations (CBOs) coming from countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
For the academic year 2008-09, a total of 16 candidates from Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria will be considered for training in the various technical aspects of operations research in reproductive health. The identified participants will be trained collectively on the main training thematic areas pertaining to OR in RH, as well as independently in groups on the applied concepts of OR in RH.
The course is offered at the
Faculty of Health Sciences within the beautiful AUB campus
in Beirut, Lebanon. Participants will have access to a number of
AUB facilities, including the sports grounds.
