Interfaculty Graduate Environmental
Sciences Program (IGESP):
Major-Environmental Health
The
IGESP program aims at improving the understanding of
human/environmental links by promoting sustainable
development, policies, plans, and projects.
Program Description
This interfaculty
MS Program is conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of
Agricultural and Food Sciences (FAFS), the Faculty of Arts
and Sciences (FAS), the Faculty of Engineering and
Architecture (FEA), and the Faculty of Health Sciences
(FHS).
The
Interfaculty Graduate Environmental Sciences Program (IGESP)
leads to the degree of Master of Science (MS) in
Environmental Sciences with four possible specializations or
majors of which the major of Environmental Health is offered
by the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS).
Curriculum
The
IGESP consists of three closely integrated components
structured to provide students with a diversified and
multi-disciplinary background in Environmental Health. Core
courses are required for all students. Elective courses
provide students with opportunities to develop more
specialized training in subjects related to environmental
studies, and a thesis which often takes the form of applied
research. Students enrolling in the Master of Science in
Environmental Sciences program may choose either a thesis
track or a non-thesis track. Students who choose the
non-thesis track should present a project report before graduation.
Credit Requirements
The curriculum in the thesis track consists of 30 credit hours
including:
Core courses: 12 credits
Elective courses: 12 credits
Thesis: 6 credits
The curriculum in the non-thesis track consists of 30 credits
including:
Core courses: 12 credits
Elective courses: 15 credits

Time Frame
Students on a full time basis can graduate in two to three
years.
Students enrolled on a part time basis are allowed up to four
years to graduate.
Requirements for Admission
An applicant is considered for admission to the Master of
Science in Environmental Health program
(MS-EH) if he or she meets the following minimum requirements, as defined
in the AUB University Catalogue:
- Good academic record in undergraduate education.

- Proficiency in English demonstrated by passing the University
English Entrance Examination (EEE), or by the achieving
the minimum required score for TOEFL examination or IELTS.

Applicants to the program may be admitted under the following
categories:
- Regular admission: if his or her cumulative
average in the last 60 credits is at least 80.
- Admission on probation: if his or her cumulative
average in
the last 60 credits is less than 80 and greater than 75.
